::Excellent services and staff

::A Mayan friend was denied treatment here. She was told that services are only provided to workers in businesses.

::Centro Medico is a modern state of the Art Hospital in Guatemala City. I should know I had surgery there. The staff amazing, the doctors, have a heart and care about you. The facilities are clean and modern. Why spend the high costs of US health care in the US. Come to Guatemala.

::Having been an unwilling patient, I can't say much good about this hospital. I became ill on a cruise ship and taken off in Guatemala City. The entire time I was a "patient" there, I was intubated and my hands and feet tied down. I was not released (to a rescue team flying from Tucson, AZ) until my husband paid Centro Medico over $50,000 in U.S. Dollars though I was only there approximately eight days. The staff lied to the rescue team when asked if I had received breathing treatments. The man I assume was the main doctor, said yes, only 45 minutes earlier. I did not receive ANY breathing treatments, period. We consider the amount my husband paid as ransom money and recommend that, should you need medical treatment in Guatemala City, you find a nice, big dumpster and climb in. I don't care how good they are purported to be, I thought I was going to die. It's hard to breathe with a tube shoved down your throat, and when the staff realized a rescue team was coming for me, they wanted to do a tracheotomy before they arrived, which I could only refuse by shaking my head. I have never been so happy in my life to see American faces as I was when the Rescue Team walked in the door with big smiles. I thank God every day for getting me out of Centro Medico alive.
